Downsizing on a Budget With Your Decorator

7/30/2014

Happy Houselift Downsized Room in a Budget By their DecoratorReupholstered furniture by their decorator
My client’s furniture was purchased with me over 40 years ago. When their decision was made to downsize, they contacted me.

In their new living room, we reupholstered the existing love seats in a beautiful floral pattern and the existing wing chair. All the furniture and accessories were brought with them and the only furniture purchased was a green velvet occasional chair and an existing footstool which was reupholstered with the same green velvet fabric as the occasional chair.

We selected new carpeting to pull together all the new fabric colors. Wallpaper was added from the moldings to the ceiling adding a warmth to the room.

We hung new curtain panels and in place of a fabric cornice or a valance we added a wood shelf to display some precious family mementos and books.

Something wonderful is happening. My dream of helping you to create the beautiful home interior you have always wanted, is now a reality. Best of all, we can have fun decorating it together!

Every room has a decorating challenge. In this home, the homeowner wanted a brighter look in her living room and she loved the idea of using white. One piece of dark wood furniture was painted white while the other furniture pieces were reupholstered in beautiful white fabric. The window treatments got a “lift” by adding simple white curtain panels over the existing white lace under-curtains. White padded window cornices were added which immediately draws the eye up to the ceiling thus creating more height.

A purchased cream color area rug placed on top of the existing carpeting creates a cozy conversation area.  The soft area rug colors of burgundy and twining green vines hold the softly upholstered pieces together visually and accentuates the greenery throughout the room.

The beautiful gold wall mirror over the sofa was kept to reflect the far side of the room and the artwork above the fireplace, yet another way to provide a more spacious look.

Let's decorate together and make your house your dream home. Happy Houselift!
