We placed a desk with a small lamp in a corner for work and client meetings. A conversational seating area was created for a few clients or a family gathering. The chairs are not specifically placed next to each other to allow people to move around. Both sides of the sofa have end tables with drawers for album storage. The wall mounted lights behind the tables allow for more storage on the table tops. Ceiling lighting and a desk lamp add more lighting to the room.
Fabrics play an important role in this multipurpose design. While they are comfortable and durable, they are inexpensive and fit into the homeowner’s spending plan. The two-tone curtain fabric in blue and white provides brightness and interest. The white curtain color pulls out the white in the rug and lampshades. The sofa has white faux leather trim welting on the arms. The furniture colors are monochromatic to avoid distraction.
A beautiful area rug is brought in to pull together the entire color scheme. Greenery softens the design and adds warmth.
When the space is being used by family and friends, the chairs can easily be moved and the desk and glass cocktail table can be used for serving.
